Humming By to Say Thanks – i-crafter June Release

Hummingbird Happiness

Hello crafty friends!  Welcome, I am so glad you stopped by today to join my i-crafter June Blog.  I have created this pieced humming bird thank you card to share with you today.  It features the new June release, Hummingbird Happiness die set, paired up with the Haley Alphabet dies and the Cherry Blossom Burst dies.

I started off creating the hummingbird on the lower left corner from black and white printed papers. I decided it was too busy and i wanted to simplify the look.  I  used four colors to create the red and yellow hummingbird on the top left in the 1st column.  This was the piecing pattern I needed to create the simplified black and white printed paper hummingbird with the red throat on the right column.

1 – I die cut 3 Hummingbird body from black, grey, and yellow cardstock.  I die cut their wing and body cluster from a red cardstock

2 – I took the black hummingbird outline and turned it over.  I glued the red cardstock body and throat  pieces into place

3 – I cut the wings and tail feathers pieces off of the grey hummingbird outline.  I used the middle score lines in the wing as a guide to cut the grey cardstock wings apart. I had a left wing and a right wing.  I glued the smaller grey wing to the front of the black hummingbird outline

4 – I cut the tail feather cluster from the yellow hummingbird outline and glued it slightly right to the back of the black hummingbird outline. You can see just a bit of the yellow showing off the the right

5 – I did the same thing with the grey tail feathers and glued them just behind the yellow tail feathers so they were exposed just to the right as shown in the photo

Here you can see the red and yellow hummingbird in detail.  I used this simple piecing pattern to create the black and white printed paper Hummingbird used on my finished card.

A – i die cut the big Cherry Blossom Burst die out of white cardstock.  I cut a single Cherry Blossom Burst from red cardstock and the stamen form yellow cardstock.  I shaped the red flower and glued it together

B – I left the white flower cluster untouched and added foam dots to the back of the blooms

C – I attached the cluster to a 4″ x 5 1/4″ card base cut form kraft cardstock

D – I glued the single red flower to the top area of the white flower cluster

I added the hummingbird to the card with foam dots and positioned him with his beak in the red flower

I die cut the word “THANKS”  using the Haley Alphabet dies,  I cut two sets, one from the  black  cardstock and one from the black and white printed cardstock.  I used the black cardstock  for the  letter outline and the printed paper for the inside of the letters.  I attached it to the bottom of the card using glue and foam dots.

These are the i-crafter products I used with this card:

Cherry Blossom Burst dies
