Bee Happy! Matchbox Stories Ornament

Hello my crafty friends!  Welcome to today’s i-crafter blog.  How sweet is this fun little mini Matchbox Stories ornament that is buzzing with a positive vibe?  Bee Happy!

I used the i-crafter Matchbox Stories die along with the bee die from Love Bugs. The outer box is decorated with flowers from the Flip Card – Heart Blooms die and the word Happy from the Zip Gift Tag die. I used my i-crafter i-Mend self mending cutting deck to cut all the dies

A – Using the Matchbox Stories die set, I die cut the box base and 2 box bands from grey cardstock and assembled the box base

B – I folded the box band at the score lines and used the rectangular die and die cut an opening in the middle of the box bands (middle band rectangle with the sides on each side.) I added double-sided adhesive tape on the framed area. I cut one of the box band to create just the frame of the opening.  I cut a piece of screen slightly larger than the opening

C and D – I set the screen piece in place on the inside of the opening of the box band.  I added liquid glue and covered the screen edges with the grey frame piece and secured it by gently pressing the paper frame to sandwich the screen in between the box band and frame.

E – Using the bee die from the Love Bug I created the be with yellow cardstock, White glitter-stock and black glossy-stock.  I glued the layers together to create the bee and added slider pieces to the underside of the bee 

F – I cut a piece of paper with greenery to place in the bottom of the matchbox.  I glued the box band together

G and H – I die cut the word Happy (from the Zip Gift Tag dies) and flower buds (from Flip Card Heart Blooms dies) out of yellow cardstock.  I die cut the sprigs and leaves from various green cardstocks.  I assembled the pieces and attached them to the front of the box band surrounding the screen opening

I tied a  string inside the box band to create a loop to hang the box. Drop the bee in the box and slide it into place to complete the Bee Happy mini matchbox hanging ornament
