Thinking of You – Matchbook Shaker Card

Hello crafty friends! Let’s make a matchbook shaker card using lots of printed cardstock in your stash. I have a hard time remembering to use my printed cardstock, so I made it a point to use a variety of printed cardstock papers with this Matchbook Stitches Base die set. I created a three page i-crafter Thinking of You memory matchbook with a shaker page.

This Thinking of You Matchbook card measures 3″ x 4″ x 1/2″ folded. With the flap open if measures 8 1/2″ long. Lets take a look at the three pages I created for the inside of the matchbook greeting.

I use the i-Mend MAGNETIC PRO Cutting Deck to cut all my dies. Page one is the greeting, Thinking of You. The sentiment is die cut from white cardstock three times and the word layers are glued on top of each other to provide height and add stability to the die cut words.

The first page base is die cut twice, once from a black cardstock I will use for the back of first page base. A second page (the front base page) is die cut from a gorgeous piece of blue alcohol ink cardstock. I used the repetitive crosses plate to die cut cross windows from the center of the front base page. The black page is glued behind the front page base. I glued the Thinking of You sentiment to the front of the page base and added two leaves.

The second page is the middle page of the matchbook. The page is cut from a patina printed cardstock. The design is created using a die cut flower, leaves and a butterfly. I die cut the flower petals from a pink, orange and yellow variegated watercolor print cardstock. I shaped the petals with the i-Press Burnisher and Pad and glued the flower together. The butterfly wings are die cut from a light blue alcohol ink cardstock and the solid body shape is de cut from a watercolor yellow print. I glued the leaves, flower and butterfly to the second page.

The last page of the matchbook is a shaker page. I die cut the front of the shaker card from another piece of the alcohol ink cardstock adding a window die cut to the center. I cut a second solid page of black cardstock to use as the back of the shaker card. I glued a piece of clear plastic to the back of the window opening. I added double sided adhesive foam tape to frame in the window shakers. I added a heart shape (cut form pink cardstock), the blue crosses (die cut from the first page), and some seed beads. I removed the release paper from the foam tape and attached the black cardstock page to the back of the shaker window.

Each of the three pages have reinforced circles added to the holes at the bottom of the matchbook pages. The pages are threaded together and tied into place in the matchbook with black organza ribbon. The cover of the Matchbook is adorned with a blue shaped flower and leaves to complete the Matchbook Shaker Card.
