The inside of this card has an interactive wiper with a hand that pops up holding a dandelion full of wishes for joy. There is also an area for a gift card as a special treat.
For this card I used the i-crafter Flower Bursts dies, Pop-up Wiper Insert dies, Heart Hand Wiper Insert dies and Alphabet, Haley die sets. I also used the EZ- Light by Pear Blossom Press which added some extra fun to this card.
Start by placing the small rectangular shape in the middle of the large opening in the Pop-up wiper insert piece. This will create the slots to hold a gift card. You can also leave this piece out if you want a solid panel. Run this through your die cutting machine.
Fold across the horizontal crease line.
Next, fold two angle mountain folds and one horizontal valley fold on each side of the upper panel.
Use the i-Press Burnisher to create crisp folds.
Fold back the horizontal small tab at the top of the upper panel.
Apply adhesive to the two small flaps.
Align the ends along the inside fold of the card and adhere.
Apply adhesive to the small tab along the top and, with the card laying flat, adhere it to the top half of the card.
Die cut the left hand from the Heart Hands die set and adhere it to the triangle shape on the left side of the upper panel. Do not adhere the hand above the mountain fold or else the wiper mechanism will not function.
From white cardstock, die cut two small flowers from the Flower Burst die set. Save the little pieces that fall out.
Trim the ends of the petals.
To create the stem, cut a piece of green cardstock to 1/4″ wide by 1 3/4″ long. Adhere one flower to the end of the stem. Adhere the second flower on top, rotating to create a dandelion puffball.
Adhere the dandelion stem between the fingers of the hand.
On the large front panel, apply adhesive being careful not to apply adhesive where the semicircle slots are located when folded back.
Fold up the front panel and adhere.
Add dots of liquid adhesive behind the dandelion and use the i-Grip Tweezers to apply the remaining bits of white pieces to look like dandelion seeds flying away.
To create the front of the card, begin with a piece of watercolor paper, trimmed to 4″ x 5 1/4″. On a waterproof work surface, smoosh Distress Inks and spritz generously with water. I used Festive Berries, Worn Lipstick, Peeled Paint and Wild Honey.
Drag the watercolor paper across the Distress Inks until you get the look you want.
Use the large flower from the Flower Burst die set with the center insert piece placed in the middle. Place this off-center to the left.
Run this through your die cutting machine.
The flower remains in the paper but the petals burst off of the surface.
On the back side, adhere a small piece of vellum behind the five small center dots.
To apply the EZ Lights, first determine where you want the activating button to be on the front of the card. Place the battery in the EZ Light and adhere it behind the spot where you want the activating button to be on the front.
Wrap the wires with a small bit of washi tape and tape it down so it cannot be seen behind the flower petals on the front. I added a little liquid adhesive to hold the lights in place behind the vellum holes.
Loosely wrap the extra wire and secure it in place on the back of the watercolor paper.
Apply bits of foam tape around the edges of the watercolor paper to raise it to the same level as the EZ Light button.
Remove the carrier sheet from the back of the foam tape and adhere it to the front of the black card.
To make the letters for the front of the card, repeat the same process of applying Distress Inks in Mowed Lawn and Peeled Paint to a work surface, spritz and drag watercolor paper across.
Die cut the letters using the Alphabet, Haley Outline die set.
Adhere the letters to the card front.
Press the button to light up the center of the flower.
Lift the petals to burst off of the surface.
Slide a gift card into the slots for a real sweet way of spreading joy. The symbolic dandelion shares your wishes of joy.
