Merry Christmas Eve my crafty friends! I hope you are able to enjoy the holiday with friends and family. How cute is this Santa Gnome? I can hear him saying Ho Ho Ho up at the North Pole.
This Box Pop holiday card is perfect for today! I created this fun Santa pop card using i-crafter’s Box Pop Oval Base die set, the Matchbook Gnome Add-On die set, and the Impossible Box Christmas Add-On dies.
I love that the Oval Box Pop was designed to lay flat and fits into an A2 envelope for mailing. Lets take a look at how easy it is to create this 3D holiday card.
A – I grab the i-Mend Self-Mending Pro Cutting Deck for any die cutting I do. Using the Matchbook Gnome Add-on dies, cut 6 large and 6 small pine trees from 3 different pieces of green cardstock. Make three larger trees by glueing a small tree to the top of the large tree.
B – Die cut two of the Box Pop Oval bases in a neutral color cardstock using the add on the half oval on one of the box half to create a slot on the right side of the oval base. Turn over the the second oval base (back side up) and place the same half oval die with the slot face down and die cut this piece so the slot will be on the left front. Die cut two of the narrow tabs one from green and one from red cardstock (set the tabs aside) Fold the oval bases with the slot in the right front and glue the tab into place. Glue six of the pine trees to the inside upper lip of the box pop oval base as shown above (they face inward on the base). Glue the three remaining trees to the top of the green narrow tab in a cluster. Add this small tree cluster through the slot (facing the trees towards the middle or inside of the oval base half) and glue into place. Set this half aside.
C – Using the Matchbook Gnome Add-on dies, cut the roof, two windows, the house lattice, heart, gnome beard, nose, shoes and hat brim from white cardstock. From red cardstock, die cut the roof, gnome body, door and the three hearts. Die cut the house from green.
D – Assemble the house as show, fussy cutting the lower v part of the white roof off before glueing it over the red roof.
E – To assemble the Santa gnome, color the nose a flesh pink and the shoes black. Cut a thin strip of white cardstock to glue above the shoes/boots and thin black strip to glue on as the belt. Color the white beard with the lightest grey marker or pencil to add the look of shaded hair. Glue into place as shown above. Attach the Santa to the narrow red tab (C).
F – Assemble the second oval base half and attach the Santa through the tab on the left front facing forward (toward the curve of the oval base). Take the base half with the trees and attach the house to the right side of the flat part (inside) of the base.
G – Glue the two oval haves together and glue the ends of side tab over each other. Using the Impossible Box Christmas Add-on dies, cut the word “Ho” three times from red cardstock. Glue them to the front completing the Santa Gnome Box Pop card.
Can you think of some friends or family members who would love to receive this interactive 3D pop up card in the mail? I have a few in mind.
