Pop-Up Kumiko Unicorn Card

Hello everyone! Justin here, and today I am featuring a card I created using the brand new Box Pops, Oval Base die set and the Box Pops, Unicorn Add-On die, part of the February Release (it just launched yesterday, if you haven’t checked it out yet)!

For this project, I wanted to use the Japanese Kumiko Stencil, which has become one of my all-time favorites, to blend a fuchsia ink over a light purple cardstock. I used this to die-cut the 2 base pieces, with one of the bases having a slit cut out for pop-up embellishments (more details on that to come)

To make my magical unicorn piece, I die cut the Unicorn Add-On unicorn from light pink cardstock and the hair pieces from hot pink cardstock. I ink-blended the unicorn’s body with pink ink, which gave some really nice shading to it. I adhered the hair pieces to the body, and gave some white accents to the hair with a gel pen. I also die cut the star pop-up piece and little star embellishments from silver glitter cardstock, and the sentiment “stay magical” from purple cardstock. All of these are also included in the Unicorn Add-On die set.

Fun tip: you can check out Lynda Kanase, the owner of i-Crafter, showing off these sets, along with the entire February Release in this YouTube Video!

Next, I assembled my box pop together by scoring all the lines and adhering the necessary flaps. In the end, the Box Pops, Oval Base die set looks like a stage! The unicorn was adhered to one of the sides in the center slit, the pop-up star piece was adhered in the slit behind the unicorn, and the “stay magical” sentiment was adhered on the front of the box-pop!

This was just so fun to put together and bring this magical unicorn to life!

I hope you enjoyed me putting together this fun little project using the brand new sets from the i-Crafter February Release (of course, along with the Japanese Kumiko stencil).
