Paper Garden

Flip Card, Heart Blooms

Hey crafty friend, it’s Amanda with Pear Blossom Press again! I’ve come to realize that I’m a much better cardmaker than gardener. I do okay with succulents and air plants, but I really excel with paper gardens. There’s no dirt or bugs to worry about, and I can create a whole rainbow of blooms in almost no time. Let me show you the bouquet that just sprung up in my craft room…

Isn’t it beautiful? I simply cut the floral elements from i-crafter’s Heart Blooms Flip Card die set to create it. Even the sentiment is included. For this card, I cut the pieces from colored cardstock scraps and added a bit of shading with Copic markers (quick and dirty, only one color of marker per piece). Notice that I outlined the center vein on the larger leaves? In nature, they are usually raised up and appear lighter. For the daisy centers and the top layer of the sentiment, I cut the pieces from gold glitter cardstock (the sentiment has three white layers stacked and offset underneath).

Before gluing the flowers and leaves onto the kraft panel, I rubbed them between a ball-tipped stylus and foam pad to give them some curl and dimension. (You can do this with your finger in the palm of your hand if you want a little less dimension.) To make the garden assembly easier, I glued the blooms onto their stems before arranging them and adhering them to the panel. I stamped the sub-sentiment from Bloomin’ Sunshine above the die cut word LOVE with green ink. Then, I mounted the panel onto a gold-foiled pattern paper panel with foam tape. I glued that to a kraft card base and added some clear bubble gems to look like dew drops.

I love the way this turned out! And by using colored cardstock scraps to cut the floral pieces, it came together really fast. I plan to make a few more with different sentiments for a gift set. I’ll include a few flip cards as well, since the die set includes the pieces. Isn’t it great when you can stretch your supplies and find lots of different uses for them?

Thanks for stopping by today. I hope I’ve inspired you to give this card a try. Please tag me on social media if you do @pearblossompress!
