Hi there. It’s Lauren today sharing a different way to use the new Valentine Treat Lantern Add-On. I decided to make a pretty 3 dimensional window to place on a floral card. I think this is a nice alternative for those who are not partial to shaker cards.
I started out by choosing a pretty floral cardstock from my stash. I die cut it using an A2 (4.25x5x5) scalloped rectangle die from my stash.
Then, using the Love, heart die from the set to die cut the window from blush pink cardstock to match my floral. Then I die cut it out using the 2″ square die from i-Crafter’s Classic Squares die set.
I then die cut a 2″ frame for it from a darker pink cardstock. To create the frame, I lined up the 1 5/8 die inside the 2″ frame. There are lines on the dies to make it easy to line up allowing you to achieve a perfect frame. I die cut 8 frames so that I would have good height for my window adding lots of dimension.
Next, I adhered 7 of them together in a stack. The 8th, I adhered to my love heart, then adhered it to the top of the stack.
I adhered the love heart to the floral panel. Then I used the heart border die to cut out 4 heart borders. I adhered 2 above the love heart, overlapping the center heart, facing down toward the love heart. The other 2 I adhered below, facing up. Again, overlapping the center heart.
I die cut an A2 (4.25x5x5) sized panel from a matching green cardstock and adhered it onto a white A2 sized card base. Then adhered my love heart panel onto the card base to complete the card.
I hope you like this pretty alternative to a shaker card and it inspires you to look at different ways to use your dies. I really like the shadows that the word and heart create on the inside of the window.
