Hello i-Crafter friends. This is Melissa with my last post for i-crafter. It’s been a fun ride and I thank you all for allowing me to share my creativity with you.
This time I made the Shadow Box Card by Lori Whitlock. This is such a fun, dimensional, Springtime card. It’s a different take on the box card. My card is actually 3 layers and when I finished, I realized the 3rd layer doesn’t “pop up” as much, so it really could be (could have) just been placed on the back.
As you can see in this view, I cut the inside layer twice. In order to make the center opening I used a circle die that is approximately 1 7/8″ inch which is available in the Classic Circles die set. All you need to do is cut the original center piece, measure it and cut another piece of card or decorative paper. Then place the original piece over top the new piece you cut, center the circle die and cut it. I scored the sides at 1/4″ inch, but as I said in hind-sight it didn’t pop and could have just been adhered to the back. A word on the back, I did cut a solid piece of card stock down to size to match the front and scored. I didn’t want a hole in the back, this way now I have a place to write a message.
I die cut several of the flowers, the bird and the swirly piece. Oh! And I did cut another base piece, cut off the edges at the score lines so that I could decorate the front of the card.
Really easy to do and a whole lot of fun.
Well, cheers! It’s been fun.
Such a cute card! Thank you Melissa!
