1. Begin by gathering your supplies. You will need:
- TOOLS:
Exploding Shaker Box die
Die Cutting Machine
Adhesive – dry, liquid and foam tape - MATERIALS:
Cardstock – solid and pattern
Metallic-finish cardstock
Acetate sheet, thin
Ribbon

Supplies

Begin by die cutting four pieces of the large, rectangular shapes. Fold along crease line.

Lay two pieces with the shorter ends touching. Apply adhesive on the shorter ends.

Place the remaining two pieces onto the adhesive so that the shorter ends go in the opposite direction. You now have the bottom and four sides of your exploding box.
Die cut the pattern cardstock using the smaller square die and adhere it to the outside of the box panels.

Place the scallop die inside the smaller square die and die cut these together to create the shaker window.

Die cut a piece of thin acetate using the smaller square die. Adhere this to the back of the scallop shaker window piece.

Apply foam tape around the edges of the shaker window. Before removing the carrier sheet, dust the edges of the foam tape with anti-static powder to keep the shaker bits from sticking if desired.

Using metallic cardstock, cut as many shaker hearts as you want.

Place the shaker bits, face up on the bottom of the box. Remove the foam tape carrier sheet and carefully place it over the shaker bits.

To create the box top, die cut four flaps. The flap die can either be used as a single piece to create a solid flap or the heart insert can be placed inside and die cut together to create the heart flap.

Fold all crease lines and adhere the small tabs to create a long strip of all four flaps. For the top of the box, die cut a square using the larger square die.

Apply adhesive to the long tab of one flap and adhere it to the back side of the box top. Note: Carefully align the corners on each flap to create the best results.

Continue adhering the long tabs to all sides of the square. Apply adhesive to the last short tab and finish off the box top.

There are different pocket and flap dies to embellish the inside of the exploding box. Die cut the shapes, fold the creases and adhere the tabs to the inside of the box sides. Finish off the box with a piece of ribbon.
This surprising, exploding box is bursting with possibilities. Fill it with photos and notes or use it as an actual gift box.
