Creating a Mini Scene

Create a Mini Scene with i-crafter
Looking for different ways to use your dies? Good thing you stopped by today! It’s Amanda from Pear Blossom Press and today, I want to show you how to create a mini scene. By building a scene on a slightly smaller element, like a die cut heart or star, you create a focal point for your card. Plus, it takes less time and effort to build a smaller scene, than it would to cover an entire card front. Mini Scene on Die Cut i-crafter I started by cutting a pair of hearts from the Heart Maze die set, then trimmed one down with a grassy border die. I inked blended the hearts, and for an unexpected twist, I colored the grass purple and the full size heart teal. If you want to add more texture and interest to your ink blended backgrounds, lift some of the ink to create white dots, and splatter on concentrated color. (If you are using water based inks, you can lift them with water. If you are using hybrid inks, you can lift them with rubbing alcohol, and thin them to splatter with it as well.) Once the background pieces were colored, they were ready to build my scene on. The Floral Garden and Love Bug dies are perfect scene builders for this technique. I like to color die cut pieces like this, so I cut out all of the floral and bug dies from a sheet of white cardstock. Then I stuck them to a strip of masking tape and colored them with Copic Markers. You can cut them out of colored cardstock if you prefer; that’s a great use for small scraps. I layered up the pieces and adhered them to my heart background, adding a little Aqua Shimmer pen highlights to the mushrooms and flower centers. To finish the card, I trimmed a white card front down and popped it up on a white card base. Then, I popped the heart scene up with more foam tape. I die cut a sentiment from the Heart Hand Wiper set and glued it under the heart. I popped the butterfly in place next to it with a little foam tape under it’s wings. A few flat-backed gems add a little more glitz to the card. This card has a ton of dimension and I love the way it turned out. If you’d like to see the video I made that shows you even more ways to use your dies, you can watch it here.   Thanks for stopping by today. You can find the sister article to this on my blog. Head on over for lots of great inspiration! If you’d like to see more cards featuring the dies I used today, click here. I’ll be back soon with more fun cards to share! i-crafter Floral Garden
