Thinking Outside the Box{card}

Christmas Box Cards

Hello crafters! Lynda here with some ideas on turning Valentine dies into Christmas projects. I created these for a YouTube Live episode and wanted to share it here on the Blog. I created two Christmas box cards using Valentine-themed dies by Lori Whitlock. Check it out.

Christmas Box Cards

CHRISTMAS TRUCK BOX CARD

Start with the Box Card Truck Hearts die set. It is designed as a Valentine theme but, as you can see, it works beautifully for a Christmas theme.

Make the truck box card first {video} then add the die cut Christmas tree from the Christmas Tree Scene Pop up die set. You can decorate the tree or leave it plain. Adhere it to the center cross piece inside the truck “bed”.

Next die cut the words “Merry Christmas” from the Christmas Indent Ornament die set. It was just the right size to fit the tailgate of the truck. Super simple! This also folds flat to fit in an envelope.

NORTH POLE MAILBOX AND ENVELOPES

For the North Pole Mailbox box card, start with the Mailbox Box Card die set. This set comes with lots of hearts to embellish it for Valentine’s Day but the mailbox itself was perfect for this Christmas project.

Die cut two of the largest pieces to make up the mailbox. Adhere the flaps to create the box card {video}.

To add a bottom to this box, hand-cut a piece of matching card stock to 3 3/4″ wide by 1 1/2″ high. Add crease lines 1/4″ in on all four sides {indicated in red below}. Trim the corners to create glue flaps. Fold along all crease lines and adhere to the bottom of the box card.

Once the mailbox is made, die cut and adhere the red layering pieces to all sides. Die cut letters using the Alpha Numeric Heather Lower die set. The Santa was die cut from the Impossible Box Christmas Add-on set.

Finally, since this is a mailbox, make small Christmas envelopes using the Animal Mini Envelopes die set. These are designed to hold gift cards so I placed gift cards to hand out to my letter carrier and other delivery drivers as a thank you gift. You could also have children write letters to Santa and place them in this mailbox.

Remember, when you see die designs shown as a Valentine theme, remember that they can be used for so many more occasions in so many more fun ways!
