Boo Boxes and Garland

Halloween Treat Lanterns

Hello my crafty friends! Can you believe it is September already? That means Halloween is just around the corner! I created these fun Spooktacular Treat Lanterns that can easily be used as a festive garland, fun table top or mantelpiece decor, or add your favorite treat for sweet Halloween hand outs!  I call them my Boo Boxes.

I mixed an matched several i-crafter dies to created these six different spooky Lantern Treat Boxes.   I used the Haley Alphabet dies for the EEK and BOO boxes. I used the lantern Treat Box die bats and spiderweb inserts for two more lanterns. I used the square die from the Mini Halloween Hauntings dies to create openings in the last two boxes. I used die cut elements from the  Mini Halloween Hauntings, Halloween Treat Lantern, and Halloween Tunnel Card dies to add the final touches.  Let me show you how to create one of the lanterns.

A and B – Using the Halloween Treat Lantern dies,  I cut two sides, one with the spiderweb insert and one without from navy cardstock.  I die cut one lantern floor also from navy cardstock.

C and D – I folded the score lines on all three lantern pieces

E and F – Using the Mini Halloween Hauntings dies I die cut the black widow spider from black cardstock.  I cut a small piece of red vellum to glue behind the spider body. I cut a piece of vellum to cover the spiderweb from the back of the lantern

G, H, and I – I glued the vellum to the inside of the lantern.  I curled the spiders legs and attached it to the front of the spiderweb with a black foam square

J – I glued one of the lantern fronts to the lantern floor and glued the tabs to the side

K and L -I glued the lantern back into place opposite of the lantern front

M, N and O – I cut a piece of ribbon 6″ long. I thread it through the holes as shown and tied a double not to complete the lantern assembly

Here are the lanterns strung up as a Halloween garland.  Super cute, right?   The i-crafter September Release has been a lot of fun to create with. I especial love how you can mix and match all the different die set together.
