3D Water Lily Gift Card Tag – Watercolor Paper embossing tutorial

Zip Gift Tag

Hello my crafty friends! Can you believe it is already April?  I am thinking spring and my hubby is getting ready to plant his sunflower seeds.  I cannot wait to see more sunshine and beautiful flowers.  Speaking of beautiful colors, I played with water color paper and color burst pigment to create a 3D embossed gift tag using the Water Lily 3D Embossing folder.  I am complementing it with the word “Thanks” from the i-crafter Pop-up Wiper Insert and the Zip Gift Tag Die Set.

A – I am using watercolor paper for the front of the tag and will be using a green cardstock for the back of the tag.  I used the tag die to cut the watercolor paper to size.  I lightly spritzed both sides of the watercolor paper tag with water and positioned it on the embossing folder.  I ran the embossing folder through the die machine

B – I lightly spritzed the embossed tag and gently sprinkle a pink Color Burst powdered pigment on the lilies and a green Color Burst powdered pigment on the leaves.  I spritzed more water to help the pigments blend

C – I repositioned the damp tag back on the embossing folder in the same position as it was embossed before.  I places a piece of paper towel over the top of the tag and ran it thought the die machine.  I removed the paper towel from the tag

D, E, & F – I used my Gansai Tambi Starry Colors watercolors to lay a translucent color each lily, I used a different gold on each flower

G – I sprinkled a tiny bit of yellow watercolor pigment in to the middle of each bloom and using the watercolor bush and more of the gold paint blended it. For the leaves I used the lightest gold paint and mixed it with shamrock Liquid sparkle and a little water to create a translucent wash.  I used my heat gun on the lowest setting to speed along the dry time

H – I die cut the “THA NKS” sentiment from the Pop-up Wiper Insert Die out of mirror gold paper.  I die cut the back of the tag with the zip strip  frm a piece of dark green cardstock

I – Using a  ¼” black double sided foam tape, I added it to the back of the green tag starting  just under the bottom of the zip strip on each side and the bottom of the tag.  I added a piece of ¼” double sided adhesive tape at the top of the tag above the small hole so you can seal the gift card inside the tag at a later date.

J – I removed the backing from the double sided foam tape on the grean tag and lined up the Lily colored tag to the front and adhered them together.  NOTE – I did not remove the backing from the adhesive tape at the top of the tag.  You will do this later to seal in a gift card or money. I glued the gold THANKS to the front bottom of the gif tag

K – After inserting the gift card, I sealed the inside top of the tag and added a ribbon to finish it of.  It is now ready to give to that special someone
